When I would have the opportunity to purchase a different helmet or a plate from a helmet, I would spend a lot of time researching different books in order to identifiy the item. With the advent of the power of the home computer, I have developed a way to quickly identify the different helmets. I started a database where I could find the information in my reference collection. In order to make the information useable to others, I have made line drawings of the different designs.

Each design is broken down into major features, Eagle, Star, Skull, etc. The major features are broken down into subclasses, FR, FWR, Spread Wings, etc. Each subclass is broken down into finer detail. A five digit number is assigned to each of the helmet plates. The line drawings and their five digit numbers on this web page are examples out of my book. Under each line drawing is information on the unit that used that plate and the time the plate was used.
The book I have written is the only book of its kind. This book will allow the collector and dealer alike to identify a helmet by its plate and have an idea on its usage and age. This book also sets a numbering standard to the different plates. A lot of material was reviewed and translated to generate the information in this book.
